Privacy policy
How OurClassHub is intended to handle personal information, including children's information. This is a draft for review, not a statement of legal compliance.
DRAFT - needs legal review. This page is not final and must be reviewed by counsel before launch.
Who we are
The operator of OurClassHub is [legal entity name to be supplied by owner], of [postal address to be supplied by owner].
Schools use OurClassHub to run their own classes. In general the school decides what information goes into the platform and why, and we provide the platform for the school. How that split of responsibility is described (for example, school as controller and OurClassHub as processor) is to be settled with counsel.
Privacy laws
OurClassHub is built for schools in India and the UAE, with Australia and New Zealand planned for 2027. The data protection and privacy laws that apply in each country are to be reviewed by counsel for how they apply. Nothing on this page claims compliance with any law.
What is collected
- School details: the school name, region and the people the school invites.
- Staff details: name, email and role.
- Student details: names, class, year level and the records a school chooses to keep, such as attendance, learning evidence, wellbeing notes and reports. Some fields, such as health information and other sensitive details, are restricted to approved staff roles.
- Guardian details: name, contact details and the students linked to them by the school.
- Contact and demo requests made through this website: name, email, role, school, the message you send and your consent to be contacted. We do not need a student name to answer a question.
Children's information
Student information is treated as sensitive. Students and parents can only see their own or linked records, and every record belongs to one school. This is built into the platform and is still being tested with schools.
Parents and students join through their school, which invites them. Student information is not collected through this website.
Students and parents see only their own or linked records, checked on the server.
How information is used
- To provide the platform to the school that entered it.
- To answer contact and demo requests.
- To keep the platform secure and to fix faults.
- Any other use, and any statement about selling or sharing information, is to be confirmed with counsel before launch.
Retention and deletion
How long records are kept, and how a school asks for data to be returned or deleted at the end of its agreement, is to be defined with counsel and the first schools. Any statement about permanent deletion is to be added once the process is decided.
Where data is stored and overseas disclosure
The hosting region has not yet been published. We will state it here and on the Security page once it is confirmed. Until then, no claim is made about where data is stored or whether it is disclosed overseas.
Service providers (sub-processors)
- [hosting provider to be supplied by owner]
- [email delivery provider to be supplied by owner]
If something goes wrong
The process for notifying schools and, where required, regulators about a data breach is to be written with counsel. No timeframe is promised on this draft page.
Access and correction
People can ask to see or correct their information. For school records, the request usually goes to the school first. For contact requests made through this website, use the contact form or the address below.
